Executive Meeting Minutes DATE: July 20, 2006
Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm. Minutes from previous meeting: minutes from the meetings for May and June MSC Treasurer’s report: reports for April and May were adopted MSC Committee reports: No discussion on committees and this will be carried forward to the next meeting. EAP: EO: Grievance: Staffing: Membership: OSH: Compassion: Old Business: Hilde will follow up on an ATIP request mentioned in a previous meeting. New Business: A questionnaire was sent from the National Office regarding bargaining. The questionnaire was discussed and completed and will be forwarded to the National office UTE (three locals, Vancouver, Surrey and Burnaby-Fraser) asked PSAC to facilitate the Local Officer Course for our executive members. PSAC normally pays $25.00 per person to attend these courses. PSAC has advised the locals that they will not pay the usual $25 because it was initiated by UTE. The Executive discussed and agreed that the three participants should be paid by the local. MSC Because the Local monthly meeting is immediately after working hours and during the dinner hour we have agreed after consultation with the Regional Office to provide food at the meetings. MSC Staffing course – The Regional office has requested names be submitted of willing participants. David Grant, Ed Painter and Wendy Webber have asked that their names be put forward. Committees- The National office has committees for Bargaining, By-Laws, Political Action, Staffing, OHS, EAP, EO, Technological, Honours & Awards, Finance, Communications WFA, compassionate Harassment, There is always information being sent to the membership through the locals. Volunteers are needed to help distribute this information. Presidents’ Conference- September 20-24: Names for observers must be submitted by the end of July. Ed Painter, Wendy Webber and Terry Ruyter have expressed interest. We desperately need Floor Representatives to help distribute information to the membership. We also need Shop Stewards to help with the grievances. Names should be submitted to the Local Executive. EAP Conference is November 24, 25 & 26. Members interested in attending should submit their names with a brief explanation of their involvement with EAP and why they would like to attend to the local executive. The executive needs to spend time together to work through the local officer’s course and the membership development course. Meeting to be scheduled for August 27 or September 10 from 10:00- 5:00. Mileage & lunch will be provided. MSC Next monthly meeting:
