Executive Steward’s Report

When I accepted the nomination for Executive Steward 4 years ago, I had no idea what to expect.  I have been with CRA for 11 years and this position is my first active involvement with the Union.   As I complete my second term as your Executive, I feel that I have learned a lot in the past 4 years and will continue on with the learning process.    Over the past year, I have participated in several courses and learning opportunities.  I participated in a Duty to Accommodate course, attended the Regional PSAC Conference, attended the President’s Conference as an observer, and have recently returned from Advanced Steward Training in Victoria.  I think that these courses will assist me in my duties as Executive Steward, and will be taking further training as it comes available. Please feel free to contact myself or any of the stewards if you have a problem or just wish to talk something out.  We are here to help you and will provide any assistance and guidance that we can.

Over the past year, I have had been actively participating in our local Executive meetings, and making sure that the members issues are addressed at these meetings, as well as quarterly Union Management Committee meetings, which I also participate in.  I have also had wonderful opportunities to network with other UTE & PSAC members.

I would like to thank the Stewards who have assisted me this past year (Kim Koch, Deb Nielsen, Jason Laurie, Karen Collin, Parveen Deepak & Ramandeep Sandhu).   The stewards have also been actively participating in training courses so that they may better assist the members of the local. I would also like to thank everyone for their support and for allowing myself, the stewards and the rest of the executive to assist you and provide any guidance that we can.  We all work together to keep our local strong and effective and I am committed to making this local a cohesive team.

I will be seeking nomination to continue on as Executive Steward for the next 2 years.  Should I be successful in this endeavour, I look forward to working for the members of this local. If you would like to become involved in the local, becoming a Steward is a great place to start.  Please contact any member of the Executive should you be interested.

Thanks, Tracy Arrowsmith
