REVIEW OF PREVIOUS MINUTES/OLD BUSINESS:

TREASURER REPORT:

NEW BUSINESS:

 

  • PSAC Convention Update – 144 delegates and 34 observers, pulled onto the nomination committee, asking who was going to run for the various committees and gathering nominations and 2nders. PSAC national president was there, John Gordon, gave a speech in regard to government. Joey Hartman, Vancouver dist labour council had a speech. Casey Claire gave speech about having strong effective stewards, pensions, health care, etc. Much talk about the supplemental pension plan, it was not passed to take to national convention. Tracy will write up a formal report on the details of the convention. Tracy picked up books on Retiring from Public Service of Canada, Health and Safety Tool kit, and Take Action – Mobilization.
  • Recap Regional Pre Convention – PSAC Convention procedures were gone over with Regina Bannon on the 1st day, what a convention is and what to expect.
  • Regional UTE Convention – Reviewed the procedures for going through the regulations, by-laws and resolutions. Went through a mock committee and then went through the resolutions to see where everyone’s priorities were (mini convention type training). Making sure that those who were going to attend were prepared for the convention.  Attempted to build harmony on positions.
  • Plantgates – The plantgate on Tuesday June 7, 2011 went well, especially for a last minute plantgate. Next plantgate should be in regard to CFIB information looking at early July (6th).
  • Employee Appreciation BBQ Ideas – Kim and Karen to plan a family BBQ
  • Executive Member Get Together Ideas – Kim will advise as to when the cabin is available for the Exec and family’s to get together.

 

EXECUTIVE STEWARD REPORT:

 

  • Heat grievance is closed, member is representing themselves.
  • Tracy gave out swag requests to stewards.
  • PSAC training is suppose to be happening, nothing on the schedule at this moment.

 

TRAINING UPDATES:

 

  • Upcoming OHS Training – Kim is going to Vancouver to facilitate the training.
  • PSAC Training – We will watch for training in Vancouver and send people down to them.

 

OHS COMMITTEE:

 

Meeting has been held over until more people are available

STEWARD COMMITTEE:

STAFFING COMMITTEE:

 

New external SP04 poster coming up

Quality Assurance Position is still in screening process

MG01 process in F&A has been extended

 

UNION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE:

 

Kurt and Kim went to the F&A UMC Teleconference

No local meeting set up at this time.

 

EAP COMMITTEE:

EAP will be rescheduled for Karen

Karen attended training to be the UTE member on the EAP committee, it will be her place to promote EAP to the members and direct members to the correct places when they need EAP services

 

ROUND TABLE:

 

Karen – Reminder about NPSW, UTE will supply some swag for prizes for the events. The government cutbacks will be effecting some of the goodies for NPSW including no plaque for the woman of the year award.

Floyd – June 30th is the deadline for the PSAC scholarship, will put it up on the boards.

Amie – Pregnancy news

Kurt – Regional UMC is July 7th, if there are any issues Kurt will send them to Pamela. Air Canada will possibly be going on strike (legal strike day is July 13), might cause some problems with delegates getting to National, will have to fly through the states with another unionized airline. BC Federation of Labour invite has just come out, Kurt will forward to executive to see if anyone wants to go. Team Leader minutes – Stacking Flex Days, there has to be a good reason to not allow the stacking of flex days. CLC executive sent out information in regard to airlines. Betty Bannon sent out action plan for collective action.
