Report to February 8, 2011 Annual
General Meeting of
Prince George Tax Services Office
This past year as your secretary has
been very eventful and fulfilling for me.
As I’ve become more familiar with my role as your Secretary and my
various duties it encompasses I’ve been able to pursue further my Union
knowledge and insight into various projects and committee work. I’ve been an
active Steward, I sit as the OHS Employee Co-Chair, and I am a Regional Trainer
for the OHS program.
The various Conferences and training I
gained in the past year:
The
conference focused on the Mental Health of our members and the importance of how
we can help our members and their families in a correct and proactive manner
when dealing with Mental Health.
This was an experience I will never
forget, it was amazing to observe the work and the topics covered by our
President’s at conference.
The OHS of our members is very
important to me; I consider OHS to be the cornerstone for a strong, proactive
environment in which everyone is entitled to work, I believe UTE and CRA are
committed to achieving the best possible working conditions for the members,
I’m proud to be a Civil Servant now more than ever.
I found this training very
enlightening; it gave me a better understanding to some of the obstacles and
challenges management faces and allowed me to gain the knowledge to what
management can/can’t and should/shouldn’t be doing when dealing with employees
and their health and safety. The training allowed me the knowledge to now train
new members to the OHS committees in the Pacific Region,
In closing I’ve enjoyed my second year
as your secretary and look forward to 2011 being a great year for UTE at the
Local, Regional, and National levels.
Thank you,
Secretary UTE 20002
