Our demands: The union’s demands were selected by the
UTE Bargaining Committee, drawn from all of the changes proposed by the
membership. They seek to balance monetary demands with operational
issues, with a particular emphasis on the various leave provisions of the
collective agreement. The employer’s demands: The most interesting demand
brought forward by the employer involves bringing in one definition of
family to cover bereavement leave, leave for care of family, and leave for
family related responsibilities. This is something our members have
asked for over several rounds of bargaining, so it is very encouraging to
